Along with a renewed team sense of patience at the plate, the return of Mark Teixeira and Kevin Youkilis has brought some of the power back to the Yankee lineup. They knocked mediocre pitcher Aaron Harang around like an overmatched sparring partner in last night's 3rd inning and send out an identical 1-7 batting order tonight against an even worse opposing starter in Jeremy Bonderman. I don't know how or why, and I don't particularly care to try to figure it out, but somehow Bonderman has worked his way back to the Majors after falling way off the grid. I'm talking "hasn't pitched in a Major League Baseball game since 2010" off the grid. He got tagged in his first start back, so the Yankee lineup should be looking to draw blood early again and ideally put more than 1 ball over the fence. They'll be backed up by Hiroki Kuroda and his knack for bouncing back with shutout performances after bad starts this season. He gave up 3 runs in the rain-shortened game against Boston last Sunday, bad by his standards, and if he's commanding his 3 S's it could be a long night for the Mariner bats.
First pitch is once again scheduled for 10:10 PM Eastern, so if you're staying in on a Friday night to get down with Hirok here's your game thread.
