Dr. Anderson said a lot of areas of Jeter's ankle need to be strengthened. There's simply no time to do that this season.

Jeter, who tried to come back from his devastating ankle break in last year's American League Championship Series against Detroit, played in only 17 games and batted .190/.288/.254/.542 with one home run and seven RBI.
