It was announced that legendary announcer Keith Jackson passed away yesterday. Many people remember Keith Jackson as a football announcer, but for many years he was also the voice of many other sports on WABC.
Here are a few videos of Keith Jackson calling big events in Yankees history:
It was Keith Jackson providing the commentary (before being over shadowed by Howard Cosell) when Reggie Jackson hit his three home runs in the 1977 World Series.
Many Yankees fans remember Bill White's call on Bucky Dent's home run in the 1978 playoff game against the Red Sox (on WPIX), but it Keith Jackson who called the game for the national audience.
Here is Keith Jackson as part of the team in the 1981 playoff series against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Yankees won this game. (I was a 13 year old kid in attendance at Yankee Stadium for that game. Oscar Gamble also hit a homer in this game.)
The sports world will forever miss Keith Jackson. Rest in peace.
