I Am Thankful For... (By Paul Semendinger)

November 24, 2022

***

I am thankful for so much. So so so much.

In regards to baseball, I am thankful that I am a Yankees fan. It all began a long time ago. I remember the kids at school talking about a home run a guy named Chris Chambliss hit that went out of the stadium. My interest was piqued, but I didn't start to follow the game until the next year, buying baseball cards, getting baseball magazines, and watching the Yankees. Graig Nettles became my favorite player, but Reggie's three long home runs into an October night cemented my love of the team. It's been a great ride ever since.

I am thankful that the Yankees are always (or, at least, almost always) competitive and that they make watching and rooting fun. Sure, I wish they'd win more. But that's also part of the fun - the never-ending quest for greatness and success. When the Yankees do win it all, it'll be that much better and that much more wonderful.

I am thankful for this wonderful site and all the people who write for us - and all of our fans who share their thoughts and ideas in the comments. It's great to talk baseball each and every day. I'm thankful for my programs on the North East Streaming Sports Network and the friendships I have made there as well along the way.

I am thankful that I've had the opportunity to write books about baseball and be published by a fantastic publisher (Artemesia Publishing). I am thankful that I have had the chance to work with and befriend one of the greatest, classiest, and most dignified Yankees of all-time, Roy White.

I'm thankful that I can still play baseball and still pitch competitively enough to get players out, some more than half my age.

I'm thankful for my friends and family. I'm thankful, also, and always, to God for everything.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!

The Least Among Them.png

"This charming and meticulously researched book will remind you of baseball’s power to change and enrich lives far beyond the diamond."

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
