Let’s begin with some quick stats:
Player A: 29 games, 1.252 WHIP, 2.82 ERA
Player B: 44 games, 1.429 WHIP, 4.93 ERA
It’s clear that Player A has been the better pitcher in 2021.
Player A is Luis Cessa.
Player B is Clay Holmes.
Thus far, the Yankees have moved Cessa in favor of Holmes.
That seems like subtraction by addition (or something like that).
Now, granted the Yankees also traded Justin Wilson who has been a disaster this year:
Justin Wilson: 21 games, 1.500 WHIP, 7.50 ERA
Maybe the Yankees had to include Luis Cessa for the Reds to take Wilson. This could be addition by subtraction.
In this deal, the Reds sent the Yankees the famous “Player To Be Named Later.”
It seems that this can’t be everything. It just can’t be.
This has to be a move to open roster spots and salary for another move.
It has to be.
Sit back.
Something is coming.
Some good.
Maybe tonight…
Maybe.
Tonight.
