The Game Story:
The Red Sox starter, Payton Tolle began the game on fire. He struck out the first five Yankees batters. Trent Grisham ended all of that by... grounding out.
On the other side, Cam Schlittler was holding his own, but two outs into the bottom of the second, Trevor Story reached on an error by Amed Rosario. Marcelo Mayer thyen doubled home Story to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the fifth inning, Jazz Chisholm hit his first home run of the year to tie the game at 1-1.
But in the bottom of the inning, Carlos Narvaez gave the Bostonians the lead with a solo homer of his own.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Yankees took the lead for good. With one out, Trent Grisham, Jazz Chisholm, and Jose Caballero all singled to lead the bases. After an Austin Wells strikeout, Cody Bellinger singled in two runs and Aaron Judge singled home a run to make the score 4-2 Yanks.
And that's how it stayed. Yanks Win!

maybe it's just good news for the team and the organization.
the pitching looks good and deep
and it's gonna get gooder and deeper as the IL'ed starters return and the prospects finish getting finished.
they've more outfielders than fit on the 26.
what they've been lacking is good, two-way infielders. if Caballero plays well enough to give Volpe serious competition it gives the organization a much stronger position as it evaluates acquiring an additional infielder.
makes the organization's position in striking a deal with Chisholm a little stronger.
Great night for Boone, as well. Pinch hit at right time, and let his starter go 8.
Last night Carlos Lagrange had what I think was his best outing of the year. 5 innings, 8K/BB. After Cole got pulled against Brooklyn last night and a reliever finished the 5th, Jack Cebert came in and pitched 4 hitless innings. With all the guys hurt or who have run into trouble pitching at their current level, Cebert has shown he is the real deal, and is looking to being the next later round (15th Rd) prospect. But INF Kaeden Kent has has really surprised me this year. as lost as he looked last year with the Renegades at the plate, he looks completely different this year and after last night's game is hitting .323. With no prospect in th…
As good as Caballero has done, he is a utility player, in 2026 the Yankees have shown: just because you don't start doesn't mean at least one bench player isn't going to get in the game.
And as far as making room for Volpe on the roster, I've never really liked the 8th reliever. I say change out the 8th reliever for Volpe.
