Breaking News: The Yankees and Rosario have agreed on a 1 Year/$2.5 Million reunion for the 2026 season. Tweets inside...

Tweets:

(MLB Twitter page is broken, here is the link.)

From MLB.com:

"After a solid stint with the Yankees after being acquired at the 2025 Trade Deadline, Amed Rosario agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million deal to return to the Bronx, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Saturday. The team has not confirmed.

...

Although he tends to chase out of the zone and likely won't draw many walks, Rosario is a career .273 hitter and can contribute considerably to a lineup as a defensive replacement. He does function as a utility man -- in 2025, he saw playing time at third (33 games), second (17), right field (6) and short (1) -- but is known more as a serviceable fielder, not usually lauded for his defense."

Read more, here.

Quick Thoughts (About This & More):

  • Amed Rosario is a fine player. At this price, I'm not going to give it much thought. For years I have wanted the Yankees to build a strong bench of proven veteran bats. Amed Rosario is a proven veteran player, who- while he didn't live up to his prospect pedigree and/or expectations- is a solid infielder to fill-in in a pinch and also pinch hit.

  • So far, the Yankees are extremely quiet. Kyle Schwarber is staying in Philadelphia, the Blue Jays have signed Dylan Cease (and a few other pitchers), the Orioles signed Pete Alonso away from the Mets, and the Dodgers signed Edwin Diaz also away from the Mets. Meanwhile, the Yankees are just waiting and bringing back their players from 2025.

  • I'm hearing rumors that the Mets are taking calls on Francisco Lindor. I'm also hearing rumors that the Padres are taking calls on Fernando Tatis Jr. Woah. Those will be major moves if anything ever comes to fruition on either front. I'm not saying there's a chance, but there are MUCH better options out there than running it back with Anthony Volpe in 2026.

  • Also, the Mets get Jorge Polanco a 2 Year/$40 Million deal today. They are also expecting him to play first base. Wow. That's an overpay. The Mets are something else.

  • The New York Mets, New York Jets, Vancouver Canucks, and Buffalo Sabres. All four teams that just cannot help themselves. (For my hockey- and especially Devils- fans: Did you see Quinn Hughes got traded yesterday to Minnesota? Darn. Was hoping he'd be the magic that would fix this season for New Jersey...)

  • Happy Saturday!

OK, the bench, outside of a real 4th OF is now complete. But now see this signing is that they are no longer going to sign Bo Bichette or Kazmuro Okamoto. Now, if they sign Tatsuya Imai or Michael King (the only 2 I would've signed to a multi-year deal), the only two pitching prospects from AA or AAA that become untouchable are Carlos Lagrange & Ben Hess - who I then immediately convert to Closers. Then I tell BC, forget Bellinger for the moment if Boras won't negotiate and go get me Ketel Marte. Jazz, ERC, Rumfield, & Reyzelman is my opening trade offer.

LaGrange and ERC are the closest thing to untouchable in my view. I am absolutely not putting ERC in ANY offer I make. if the other team asks for him I am trying to replace him. if they say he is the deal maker or breaker then i gotta be getting a true true difference maker!! marte probably fits that along with Seager, Skubal. there might be some others but those are the 3 that very readily come to mind

NO CHANCE I am trading ERC in a move for Peralta!!!

Good move. He's a versatile, solid bench player.

I like this. Now he platoons against LHP with McMahon against RHP and as a defensive replacement when they are ahead in the later innings. Rosario is also a PH against a lefty reliever. This isn't a pennant-winning move, but it makes the Yankees more flexible. I like this.

i do like Rosario. i have advocated for them to get him for several years. that said, I was hoping they would bring Refsnyder back

it seems pretty clear that Boras is driving the car and he is not going to agree to anything for Bellinger until after Tucker signs. he wants the Tucker losers in on Belly.

a good Winter is still very doable. gotta get Belly. the fit is too good. after that they need a pitcher and they need to improve the offense at one additional position.

I guess it makes sense that they are waiting on making a meaningful trade until after Belly makes a decision. if he goes elsewhere, will they really go with Judge…

I could live with that if they improved the infield offense and got that starting pitcher.

Now they have 3 solid utility guys off the bench with Rosario Waldo and Cabbie.
