Breaking News: Yankees have Acquired Edwin Encarnación from the Mariners

Earlier tonight, as reported first by Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Yankees have made a trade with the Seattle Mariners for them to acquire Edwin Encarnación.

In 65 games this season, EE is leading the American League with 21 home runs, alongside a .241/.356/.531 and a K/BB rate of 55:41.

The package that will be heading back to the Mariners is still yet to be officially reported, but Joel Sherman has stated that pitching prospect Juan Then is only piece that will be headed towards Washington State.

Additionally, Ken Rosenthal has reported that the Yankees and Mariners are going to essentially split the money in salary and 2020 buyout (for $5 Million) on EE’s contract through this year and next.

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
