COUNTING DOWN: The Best Yankee At Each Uniform Numbers (#72)
By Paul Semendinger
If a player wanted a chance to be the best at a uniform number used somewhat often in recent years, he might choose #72. A player wouldn’t have to do too well to become the best here.
Who’s the best at #72?
The following are the choices:
Juan Miranda – played approximately 13 games* (he also wore #66 in that time period, so it’s probably a little lower than 13 games)
Slade Heathcott – played in 17 games (he hit .400 in those games)
Brady Lail – 1 game pitched
Chance Adams – 13 games pitched (2019)
Mike Ford – 29 games (2020), but he hit only .135
Of this collection, I would pick Slade Heathcott as the best player.
Slade Heathcott was the best #72 in Yankees history.
