Yankees add Topa to roster. Hoping to catch lightening in a bottle, but it won't even be a firefly.

The bullpen didn't have it tonight. I hope its only one game and not a continuing thing that lurks its ugly head.

I suspect that Cruz and Headrick have appeared a little too often and could benefit from a bit of R&R.

too many starters injured and replaced by guys not pitching more than 4 or 5 innings

and too few really dependable relievers

it's a real problem for a team in an end-of-season pennant race.

they may be forced to make some difficult decisions about which pitchers are allowed rest and whether they can afford to go to the whip with some of the relievers in the next month

and then adopt a different bullpen strategy in the post-season,

one that involves using surplus starters as multi-inning relievers

With TBD / Rodriguez going tomorrow, the Yankees really needed more from Warren tonight and win!

They also need to actually coach him in between starts; and if they do it in the Bronx like I see them doing it on their Homegrown show, I'll fire Briend, Blake, Drescheul, and call up Mike Maddux and beg him to take the job.
