I really wanted that ball to go to the wall so JDom could have his well-deserved 2-RBI double, even if that would have meant Rice "only" went 3-4 with a double.

Doval had wide latitude

and was able to await a batter that he felt posed little threat.


it might have rubbed against the ingrained wisdom of the spectators,

but a 6 run lead is very different from a 4 run lead
