Rosario > McMahon -- even vs RHP

Can the Yankees hit AND pitch in the same game?

Judge BABIP is only .220

Imagine if Rice had Judge batting behind him for protection!

Very strategic -- Yankees bunch together IFers and OFers in lineup!

I'll drink to that: Cole gets rehab start at AA

Over / Under: Chisholm HRs + SBs, 2.5

ROYALS

Garcia, 3B -- .280

Witt, SS -- .278

Pasquantino, 1B -- .155

Perez, C -- .169

Jensen, DH -- .222

Thomas, LF -- .194

Caglianone, RF -- .273

Massey, 2B -- .214

Isbel, CF -- .295

Wacha, P -- 2-0, 0.43

YANKEES

Grisham, CF -- .155 (90)

Judge, RF -- .236 (156)

Bellinger, LF -- .246 (104)

Stanton, DH -- .273 (114)

Rice, 1B -- .327 (219)

Rosario, 3B -- .265 (126)

Chisholm, 2B -- .179 (50)

Caballero, SS -- .222 (72)

Wells, C -- .191 (77)

Schlittler, P -- 2-1, 2.49

Game on YES at 7 pm

NEXT UP: Saturday, April 18th, at 1:30 pm, vs Royals

McMahon ran into one I guess. Perfect timing enough for the win.

Wow, they really looked like they were trying to give this game away. 0-5 RISP (though Grisham really tagged that liner to the RF'er), .172 BA, Doval padding his ERA to 7.56. He has now Blown Saves in 10% of Yankee games.

It's outrageous that the Official Scorer gave D'oh-val the W. He has discretion to take the W away from a pitcher who is ineffective and give it to a later pitcher (here, Bednar).

Replying to

a very valid point and i think I largely agree with you.

a couple things

  1. i could be wrong but I think what is considered the general rule of thumb is that unless the pitcher is grossly bad, the pitcher on the mound in the inning the team takes the lead gets the W

my guess is that it goes something like this. using tonight as an example, if Bednar is given the win, then nobody gets a save. I am guessing teams like to see both a W and a S given out. it adds to the team pitching stats

so for something along those reasons, the general rule of scoring means attempting to give both a W and…

Obviously they have to bench Chisholm and let him PH in order to get his 1st HR of the year.
