Replying to

Defensive Indifference is a sound baseball strategy to keep infielders in their most optimal locations because the out at the plate is more important than the runner taking a free base in front of him. I can see no sound baseball strategy for throwing to the wrong base regardless of the score. With one out, Grisham's job there was to keep the double play in order to maximize the opportunity to end the game as expeditiously as possible.
