Game 9: Miami (5-3) vs New York (7-1)

Wells starts day game after night game.

Not sure how he does with horses, but so far Paddock has not corralled hitters.

So far Caballero has posed no threat to Volpe's job.

Can McMahon break the one-quarter Mendoza Line?

The BA of anyone in the Marlins' bottom 3rd is higher than the total of the Yankees' bottom third.

Over / Under: Number of times the tarp is used, 1.5

ALWAYS a bummer to lose. probably a bit more when you have a late lead.

that said, the Yanks sit at 7-2 and the offense has been nowhere close to hot so far!

the truth is that they only have 2 hitters that are hot

Rice and Stanton

2 hitters that are doing fine but definitely not hot

Judge and Belly

Grish is having good ABs and getting quite a few BBs, but so far not getting hits.

I would say he has had some balls that he hit very well that did not fall

I would also say he seems to be a bit less aggressive than he was last year. maybe the stats would prove me wrong, bu…

WOW!!

well there we have it, PROOF!!

even in the ABS era it is not impossible for the umps to have a GIGANTIC negative impact on the game

home plate ump negatively impacts NOT 1, but 2 ABs in one inning, and that happened to be the 9th inning

wrongly called strike on Stanton who is the tying run in the box, changes the count that should have been 2-0 and put Stanton in total control and makes it 1-1 instead and forces Stanton to have to swing at bad pitches

then calls a TERRIBLE strike on Escarra with the tying run on 2b.

Replying to

i was making zero attempt to say that the Yankees should blame the loss on the umps.

if you noticed the next thing I posted basically stated that only 2 hitters are really hitting well.

early on we had runners on 2b and 3b with zero outs and did not score even one run.

Fried walked a batter with 2 outs and the bases empty

Cruz walked a batter with 1 out and bases empty

when you have the lead, you can NOT put the first base runner on by a walk PERIOD!

I am sure I can come up with more things than that which the players DO control and getting the job done in any 1 or 2…

Yankees get penalized by Stanton hitting the ball with not enough loft and Well hitting the ball with just a tiny bit too much

consecutive good ABs from McMahon. hoping it leads to a hot streak, or at least a warm streak!!

going to the 9th. we need our 2 warm hitters to get on base before our 2 HOT hitters come up
