Bummer of a game coming out of the All-Star break. Who knows, maybe the Yankees continue to fold and they wind up needing to consider selling? Two weeks is a long time for a team entrenched in a slide like the Yankees are in.

Brock Selvidge, who was the piggyback tonight for Gil, still doesn't have his command back, but at least he looks like he did in 2023. Last year, his delivery was all wrong, and finally shut him down at the time of the Futures Game (he was supposed to pitch in it), missing the rest of the season and the first 6 weeks of this season before beginning a rehab assignment.

But with Schlittler needing an MRI, what are he Yankees doing wrong that almost every pitcher gets hurt in the minors. Are they not training them right ? Too much emphasis on off speed pitches with max effort? Could it be as simple as getting new people in with some…

There is a lot of old school proof as to why there a lot of injuries. Let me name you some

1) Pitchers don't put in the road work (running) anymore. - weaker legs leads to arm issues

2) no one long tosses anymore

3) emphasis on more off speed pitches

4) Max effort

5) Kids are bring pressured into choosing one sport way earlier and in the South and West, baseball is almost year round, so a lot more miles on the kids arms before they are even out of High School

6) TJS - everyone is so convinced that everyone is going to need it sooner or later, so they do almost nothing to try to stop it…

Not happy. Gil only went 3.1 IP again, with only 57 pitches. 7K, 2 BB, with only a shaky 1st, including a walk and the 2-run HR.

FIRE CASHMAN

FIRE BRIEND

CHANGE THE REHAB GROUP

REPLACE WHOEVER HANDLES THE STRENGTH & CONDITIONING FOR THE PITCHERS.

again you say it's negligent to hold Gil's pitches to less than 60 after having him throw 50 in his previous outing but fail to explain why it's negligent.

all I can understand is that the big-league club is badly bereft of pitching and that it would benefit the club to have Gil's pitch count be increased in the usual 15-pitch increments.

I can not understand why it was that they had Gil throw but 57 or why anyone not involved in Gil's treatment program would presume to know whether it is in Gil's best interest to throw more pitches now.

the pitching corps for the Yankees is depleted and badly in need of Gil

but the medical staff is…
