Glad Cabrera back in . 1-3 with 2 big rbi Perhaps when left’s pitch go back to switch hitting. Switch hitters have an advantage and he should keep trying as I believe it will pay off in the long run. Volpe is 1-7 with 3 walks since moving to lead off and the hit was a gift by the other teams 2nd baseman he did the olay move

To me, the biggest Yankee surprise of the season is not Stanton and Rodon rebounding because I felt that they would, and it is not what Volpe has done so far, because I kind of thought that he would. The biggest surprise is the amazing production of Oswaldo Cabrera. I never would have predicted for him to become the hitter he has been so far this year.

Just saw in The Times that Fritz Peterson died at 82. Sure enough, his "trade" with Kekich is in the first graf of the obit. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/13/sports/baseball/fritz-peterson-dead.html (paywall). I remember him as a really good pitcher for some bad Yankee teams.

The Yankees had a very good "one/two" punch at the top of their rotation in those days with Mel Stottlemeyer and Fritz Peterson back in the early 70's.

Berti is on the Injured List now, so we will definitely see a lot more of Oswaldo Cabrera. The Yankees filled the void by bringing up Kevin Smith, who is not that great a hitter. I thought they might bring up Rougned Odor, another extremely light hitter, but at least he has that "attitude" that would fit right in with Verdugo and Stroman, and thus add more "personality" to the ballclub. But for now, it is Kevin Smith instead.
