I would love to see the Yankees pick up a bonafide 3B before the season starts. Evan Longoria did a good job as a Part Time player last season with Arizona, so Longoria can be one option who is currently available. Or....Colorado may be willing to trade Kris Bryant's salary away, after two injury plagued seasons and very poor offensive numbers since he joined the Rockies, so I think Bryant can be had. This year, for the first time since he was with the Chicago Cubs, Kris Bryant is finally 100% healthy, and many "experts' are predicting a big comeback for him this year and a return to the great numbers he put up with the Cubs. Reuniting Kris Br…

Trent Grisham made a diving catch in centerfield.

Does Aaron Judge make that play, or does it fall for a hit? Or, does he dive and get hurt?

It's called reductio ad absurdem. It takes an argument and demonstrates that the conclusion has to be something that is absurd, like "right fielders don't make diving catches, only center fielders do, and thus are more likely to be hurt." This is a perfectly legitimate form of argumentation.

Your response doesn't address my point (and veers in the direction of ad hominem argumentation, which is most certainly not a legitimate form, though I don't think it lands there). If you have statistics, for example, that show that center fielders are called on to attempt substantially more diving catches than corner outfielders, that would be a winning argument. Or you could dispute the premise of my argument, but "I didn't s…

odds are that it's his other big toe that gets mangled

forcing him to abandon bipedalism

they might still need to address other short-falls, but it's clear that the organization fully addressed the lack of good lefty-hitting outfielders

has anyone outside of the organization suggested that the Yankees have decided to use Gil as a starter for 2024?

I have been impressed by his fastball and wouldn't at all mind seeing Gil get a few starts early on, but I wonder if it might be expecting too much for a guy coming back from surgery to throw a lot of MLB innings, especially as he hadn't done so prior to the surgery.

I might think that they might put him in the pen, perhaps going a couple of innings per outing and given a couple of day's rest after each.

But I find it interesting that Grisham is in CF and Judge in LF, while Soto stays in RF. This alignment only re-enforces my belief that come trade deadline, with or without Dominguez, if Grisham hits some and someone needs a bat and asks, Verdugo could be dealt. Or Grisham with another year of control could be sent away if Dominguez is ready to play the OF.

or, it just may be that if Grisham hits and Dominguez is ready, willing and able

the Yankees will enter the post-season with Judge back in RF, Grisham in center, Dominguez in left

and Soto as the DH

they may well have turned a shortage of outfielders into a surplus
