IBWAA Selects Cy Young Winners

IBWAA SELECTS COLE & SNELL IN 2023 CY YOUNG AWARD VOTE

The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA) announced the winners of the IBWAA Cy Young Awards Wednesday:


Gerrit Cole of the New York Yankees and Blake Snell of the San Diego Padres. This is the IBWAA’s 15th annual election for these awards. All IBWAA members were eligible to vote.

Election results are as follows:

American League: 1st Place: Gerrit Cole, New York Yankees- 308 points 2nd Place: Sonny Gray, Minnesota Twins- 116 points 3rd Place: Kevin Gausman, Toronto Blue Jays- 83 points

National League: 1st Place: Blake Snell, San Diego Padres- 265 points 2nd Place: Justin Steele, Chicago Cubs- 155 points 3rd Place: Spencer Strider, Atlanta Brave- 121 points

The IBWAA endeavors to serve the baseball writing community, representing more than 800 baseball content creators. We strive to increase visibility, networking, and opportunities for all of our members. Voting for full-season awards takes place in September of each year, with selections announced in November. The IBWAA also holds voting for our Hall of Fame, preseason predictions, All-Stars, and Content Creator Awards.
