NOTE - I have written about Joe DiMaggio's cultural impact on baseball and society, areas where most players, including Aaron Judge, do not even come into his stratosphere, but for today I would just like to look at the pure numbers of these two lifetime Yankees.

Joe D and it’s not even close.
And of course Joe D. missed 3 years -- his 28-to-30-year old seasons -- serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. I've long considered it fair to average his 1942 and 1946 seasons and then add in three times those numbers to calibrate where he would have ended up on the all-time lists but for the War. For example, instead of 361 HRs, he'd have about 430. None of that takes away from Judge's accomplishments -- he is a legitimate all-time Yankee great -- but I think it puts into even sharper focus how good DiMaggio really was in a way that even his great actual numbers don't fully reflect.
Judge's 2017 shoulder injury and down stats for about 6 weeks were held against him giving the cheating Jose Altuve the MVP. Will the absence of power he, Judge, had for several weeks post injury, and the amazing year Raleigh is having as a slugger while catching everyday give Raleigh the MVP this year, especially if Raleigh ends up as the HR Leader and the Mariners make the playoffs?
