Jorge Posada Says All You Need To Know About the Yankees

This clip is devastating for the Yankees:

The short clip above says all Yankees fans need to know about the way the Yankees organization has been run in recent years and how it is being run today.

This is a huge culture problem with the Yankees. Jorge Posada doesn't feel welcome? (I asked this very question - Do the former greats not feel welcome? in 2025.)

This is a problem. It simply is. This cannot be pushed away with excuses. It simply cannot. There are far too many examples of this. It keeps coming out. But Posada said the quiet part out loud clearer than any other to date - "I don't feel welcome."

The Yankees used to build their winning tradition by bringing back their former greats. The current players would learn from them. Now the team pushes so many away. Winning, greatness, high expectations, and the like are not the driving forces for the Yankees.

Please note and remember also the articles I have written the last many years about so many Yankees greats not returning for Old Timer's Days. (See below for two of those articles.) I also wrote an article following the appearance of many Yankees champions at Fantastics Fest 2025 that drew similar conclusions.

This is an organizational problem that seems to stem from the very top. There are too many former players that keep saying the same type of things. We see this over and over and over.

The simple fact is that until the Yankees change their leadership culture, they will not be a winning franchise again.

It would be really helpful to making improvements if the team would reach out to the players and compile a list of the things that have gone wrong. The simple answer might be the org attitude, but vagueness never fixes anything. What can the team actually start changing?

It starts with Hal, then Cashman, as noted and the Yankees talk a good game but the casual fans only care about showing up and watching a baseball game throughout the season.... now the die-hards have a much different perspective and know where to place the blame for this franchise being the ugly bridesmaid year in and year out. The expression ..... runs down hill seems appropriate when it involves past Yankee greats. If you are a contrarian then defending Yankee ownership and the front office is one's right but is it the "right" approach? I think not!

And let's remember that Posada was at Old Timers Day the last three years (and I didn't look back further than that), so how unwelcome could he feel? He's always struck me as a guy who speaks and acts in the moment, not with a whole lot of reflection, so who knows whether this is an old grievance, a new grievance, or simply a grievance of the moment.

Posada also was inordinately upset his last season (2011, at age 40), when he was shifted to DH because he was a huge liability in the field: the prior three years (including the 2009 championship year), he averaged -22 DRS when catching. He stunk (-0.4 WAR in 2011), but had an overweenin…

He's not the only one. Common denominator?

And those were the mistakes of the 1980s. We've been through this.

He also was the guy who brought in Matsui and Tino and Brosius and Knoblauch and Raines and Chili Davis and Strawberry and Wells and El Duque, and so many others...

I have shown in other articles how the 1996 team was built under his watch.

If he gets the blame for Ed Whitson and Andy Hawkins, he also has to get commondation for Wade Boogs and Mariano Duncan and Cecil Fielder and David Cone and Joe Girardi and...

The Anti-George narrative also blames him for trading Fred McGriff and Willie McGee and Jay Buhner and then also blames him for almost trading Mariano Rivera and Bernie Williams…
