I don't usually put articles here that only link to other stories, but I made an exception with this one.
The Baseball Hall of Fame just ran a story about the last game Lou Gehrig ever played - an exhibition game in June 1939.
Here is that story:
The craziest/saddest thing that happened to me was that my 4th grade English teacher gave me a D- on a book report done on a Lou Gehrig biography. Why? The 1978 Yankees in the World Series made her eat her public words, and he was a Yankee! Also, it was only about a month later. What did I do? I put the report on the fridge and made my parents keep it there until it came time to clean for Passover. Man I was proud of it, knowing my grade had nothing to do with how I wrote it.
