I recently shared an article about my favorite baseball songs of all time.  But baseball has been intertwined with pop culture since practically its inception.

Two of the most iconic poems, Casey at the Bat (1888 by Ernest Thayer) and Baseball's Sad Lexicon (1910 by Franklin Pierce Adams) were written well over a century ago.

Two of the most famous cartoons were baseball related.  Personally, my favorite is Baseball Bugs, which Bugs Bunny takes on the Gas House Gorillas.  However, if we were to have a vote, The Simpsons' Homer at The Bat would probably give it a run for the money.

Today, I am going to share my top ten baseball movies of all time.

In putting together this list, I noticed that all of these are from a 15 year window of time.  We need some more classic baseball movies.  Again, feel free to agree or disagree and share your favorites with me.

10. Major League  The Charlie Sheen 1988 classic underdog story

 9.  Brewster's Millions  Richard Pryor comedy from 1985

 8.  For Love of the Game  1999 Kevin Costner movie about a player nearing retirement

 7.  The Natural  1984 Robert Redford story from years gone past

 6.  A League Of Their Own  1992 Geena Davis stars in this women's baseball story

 5.  Cobb 1994 Tommy Lee Jones portrays the deadball era star

 4.  Sandlot 1993 film about playing baseball with your friends as a kid

 3.  Soul Of The Game Blair Underwood portrays Jackie Robinson in this 1996 documovie

 2.  Eight Men Out Lots of rising stars in this 1988 portrayal of the 1918 Black Sox

 1.  Field Of Dreams Kevin Costner's 1989 masterpiece about a man's desire to play catch with his father one last time.  Who can't relate to that?

Don't forget MONEYBALL starring Brad Pitt. He played Billy Bean as the GM of the Oakland A's.

No Pride other the Yankees. Gary Cooper was great in that movie.

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
