My Thoughts: Welcome home! I turned away from the game to watch the re-entry. Growing up in the 1970s, NASA and space travel was a constant discussion - until it wasn't. It is great to see that this mission was such a success. I don't understand any of the physics behind how they do any of this. I just watched in amazement and awe.

My Thoughts - I saw this and felt terrible for all. The bat on the Ichiro statue is broken.

But...

My Thoughts - I love the sense of humor here on behalf of the Mariners. That is simply awesome.

And then, even better...

My Thoughts - Fantastic! "I didn't think Mariano would come out here and break the bat." Classic. I love it!

My Thoughts - That, I don't love.

My Thoughts - I have discussed this before. In close games, what the manager does (or does not do) often matters much more than in a blowout. Sure the Yankees can score lots of runs, but when they need to score, in big moments, and close games, they fail all too often. We have seen this for years. A big part of this is the team's preparation. Another part is the ability of the manager to strategize. The Yankees are weak, and have been weak for years, in those areas. This is a big reason why even though they often lead the league in runs scored it doesn't translate to post season success.

My Thoughts - I'll end on a positive note - A Roy White home run. Classic!

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
