My Thoughts - "Making the team the most valuable in baseball..." With this, all the talk about, "Well, the Dodgers were allowed to..." and "The Yankees have a budget..." and all the rest of that talk should stop.
From the NY Post: This deal "values the team at significantly more than $12 billion."
I have no problem with the Yankees making money. I want them to make tons of money.
BUT - I also want the Yankees to be willing to then invest that money into the team when great players that are needed become available. We know they have not done that.
We know that they have not built the best possible rosters. We know that they play to be a little better than pretty good so they can reach the post season and hope instead of going into the postseason as the favorites to win it all.
With this new deal the Yankees must now operate like the Dodgers who operate the way the Yankees used to.
The goal in sports is to be the best. Period. This is especially true when one runs or works for the sport's greatest franchise.
My Thoughts - That is simply amazing. What a great year Cam Schlittler had! He has an argument for MVP.
At this point, with second place all but guaranteed, it makes sense to rest Schlittler until the playoffs.

There is no need to push him for one more regular season start. Rest him until the playoffs.
My Thoughts - How can a team go this long without finding a quality third baseman?
Worse Stat - Since 2020, the third baseman who had the highest WAR as a Yankee was...
Josh Donaldson?! Yikes.
At some point, someone has to ask Brian Cashman what the problem here is. Why can't the GM of the New York Yankees find a quality third baseman?
My Thoughts - As I write this on Sunday evening, the Yankees are six games out. This means they have fallen three games behind in the standings since the Trade Deadline.
My Thoughts - Well it looks like the Yankees and the Red Sox will battle it out in the postseason.

My Thoughts - I know Rocky (1976) is the best movie of the series. It won an Oscar. But, my favorite of all the Rocky films is the first one I actually saw in the theaters... Rocky III.
As I get older, and older, Rocky Balboa (Rocky VI) also resonates more and more.
My Thoughts - I'll end with Reggie hitting a Game Winning Home Run. (We didn't call them "Walk-Off's" back then.)

these are good thoughts. important ones.
but the thinking about how the Yankees should place a lower priority to following a budget and a greater one on signing top-of-the-market free agent players should probably be fleshed out a bit
given that MLB and the Players' Assn are on the verge of a negotiation.
