My Thoughts on Some Twitter (X) Posts (9/23/24)

MY THOUGHTS - The regular season was not as magical as 1998, no doubt. But, if the Yankees go on a wild ride through the playoffs, reach the World Series, and win it... well, that will be magical. It's time Yankees, to win it all.

MY THOUGHTS - I love when prople post old vintage photos from Yankees history that I have never seen before. This is great. As I think about the post season, maybe there will be some magic like this for the Yankees in 2024. I can only hope!

MY THOUGHTS - I hope there are many more years for Soto and Judge to blast 40 or more homers together as teammates on the Yankees.

MY THOUGHTS - Dave Sims is a longtime radio voice. I remember that he had a show on WFAN. I don't remember listening to it very much. After a year with Justin Shackil and Emmanuel Berbari, both who I felt did excellent work, it doesn't make sense, to me, to bring in a different voice. I'm rooting for Justin Shackil to get the job.

MY THOUGHTS - And hopefully he hits homers in every new ballpark between now and 2040 wearing Yankee road greys...

MY THOUGHTS - If I'm ever in Wisconsin, I'm going here.

MY THOUGHTS - This has nothing to do with baseball, obviously, but it is very funny.

Love how they made the Yankees the overwhelming favorites to win the World Series. Far ahead of the Phillies and Dodgers, who they gave the second and third best chances to win it all to.

Bottom line, though. The post season is way too unpredictable to make predictions. It is very seldom the "best" team that wins it. The REAL best team in baseball is the team that finishes with the best won/lost record (winning percentage) at the end of the Regular Season after 162 games. In the post season, it always comes down to which teams got hot at just the right time, and which teams got cold at just the wrong time, that determines which team advance…

Dave Sims teamed up with Ed Coleman to host a formidable midday Sports Talk Show on WFAN that was very good. But that doesn't BEGIN to scratch the surface of his talents as a baseball broadcaster! I have been to Seattle on multiple occasions and I have heard Sims call games, as he has done so for the Seatt…

Replying to

Just for fun, here is Dave Sims call (Mariner's point of view) of that famous play in the Yankees post season berth clincher when Austin Wells threw to Jazz Chisholm to get Julio Rodriguez out after J-Rod strayed too far off the bag to avoid the flying bat and couldn't get back in time.

Because there's no rabbit-hole I won't go down: In the football game advertised on the perfect game scoreboard, the Giants beat the Steelers 38-10 led by 3 Charlie Conerly TD passes. The Giants were behemoths in '56, winning the NFL championship game at Yankee Stadium by crushing Da Bearsh 47-7. That was the last time both the Baseball Yankees and the Football Giants won championships the same year (before that, it only happened in 1927 and 1938).

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
