Every time it seems that there is a play that many say "This will turn around the Yankees' season," it doesn't.

"Cody Bellinger just saved the season." Nope.

"Ben Rice just saved the season." Nope.

The Yankees lost again. They just dropped two of three to the Blue Jays. They have gone 3-7 against the Jays this year.

The Yankees are 8-10 in July.

The Yankees are 21-26 (.446) since May 30. That's now 47 games of less-than-acceptable play. Playing a full season at this winning percentage would give the Yankees a 72 win season. It's bad. This is a team that is supposed to be championship caliber. It's not.

Is this a swoon? If it's not a swoon, it's a bad team playing badly. Either way, it's not good. It is now late July. This isn't a small sample size. This period of poor play has been almost half of the season.

The Yankees are off tomorrow and then they open a three game series against the Phillies.

Full recap in the morning.

another potential item to add to the Jays stretch of catching a LOT of breaks

they get to begin a road series with Detroit today

not long ago the Tigers were the best team in MLB and the first team to 60 wins

then they began a stretch of losing 9 of 10

almost 2 weeks after beating everyone to 60 wins, they sit today at 61 wins

enter the Jays. will the fortunate breaks never end

I mean come on!! Judge hits a 2 run bomb to tie the game

Max goes back out and looks like he did the first 3 innings

first batter 3 pitches easy out

2nd batter 2 pitches easy pop out- but our best…

You're never as good as you look when winning, or as bad as you look when losing. This team is somewhere in between, which makes them a a wild card type of team, not a great team.

I just hope they don't hit the panic button and trade Jones, who hit 3 HRs today and is hitting .400 at AAA.

but what would they look like if they added 2 elite bullpen arms with at least 3 years of team control

plus at least a solid option to play 3b. do they really need Suarez and his 36 HR? the offense IS leading all MLB in OBP and OPS. that seems like an offense that really is not so far from championship level? no?

if they get Saurez, I will celebrate it, but I think he is adding more offense than we truly need and does not fit so well with a team that really needs to play better defense more consistently

from game 3 vs KC we had 1-2 weeks where the offense was VERY bad. outside that, th…

for Paul's sake

I issue a dead poet alert!!!!!!!

one dead guy is quoted as having passed along a warning

beware the fury of a patient man

reasonably patient people have patiently awaited a championship Yankee season

and, at present, are reasonably worried that they aint getting one in 2025

fans are reasonably concerned about again getting hit in the face and again enduring the malodorous miasma of another mendacious failure

some say it's time

win or get lost

John Dryden, 1681

It seems that Dryden, all those years ago, knew how patient the Yankees fans would be.

Here's newer poem:

Every year they fans are promised greatness.

Every year the team falls short.

Then every year they promise to be better.

The next time.

And they aren't.

Yet they follow the same old script.

And reward the same old people

who made the same mistakes

And they charge more for everything

Expecting the foolish fans to keep paying because

They were promised

Greatness.

The front office needs to shake this team up with some moves that might be unpopular but necessary. Hopefully Cashman doesn't panic and trade away the farm for short term results. Unfortunately, there have been some underperforming players on this roster. The fever dream of Volpe becoming an All Star has faded and Wells certainly hasn't contributed so far. Tenuous times for this Yankee team!
