The Yankees scored somewhere around 654 runs in the fifth inning as the Rockies made a collection of sloppy plays (now we know whey they win...rarely).

Max Fried won again. He is now 7-0.

Aaron Judge hit his 18th homer.

The true final score was 13-1. (But it was as if it was 654 to 1.)

i dont feel like going back to look, but I believe we had at least FOUR players reach base TWICE in the fifth inning, including Wells who had 2 hits in the inning. after that the ump called a strike on Judge that had to be at least 4 inches below the zone to help him strike out and end the inning

i feel quite sure I have never seen more than 2 players reach base multiple times in the same inning before today.

if the ump is going to have pity on the pitcher and give him a mercy K to end the inning, does it have to happen vs the best hitter in baseball and the guy currently…

4 consecutive games coming up and then a single day's rest prior to playing the Dodgers

Cruz is injured

Weaver and Williams have thrown in 21 of the first 50 games, Leiter and Hill slightly more.

not really ideal that Fried threw more than 7 innings in a blowout, but really a question of allowing Max to throw a usual number of pitches in order insure that Weaver and Williams get a little rest

Pretty ideal that he threw 83 pitches. Doesn't needlessly fatigue him, gives the bullpen a rest, and allows Hamilton to work on his stuff without a high-leverage situation. I can live with 2 H, 0 XBH, 0 BB in 1.2 IP at the end of a blowout.
