the deluge of runs scored was very, very welcome

but it might be important to note that Schmidt pitched a pretty good game.

he scattered a few too many hits

and allowed two runs over six innings,

but he pitched look someone who belongs in a major league rotation.

Schmidt would give the Yankees their third legit starter

three allows a rotation to begin to solidify

four is good...... and Gil might be back and in reasonable shape before July

and that might mean that Cashman needn't pull a panic move for a starter.

I trust the team that scores the most runs in the American League

the team with the highest batting average in the American League

and I trust the team with the best OBP in the American League

I trust those teams.

the teams in the AL East are not, in May or June, in direct competition with the teams of the National League, and, by the time the World Series rolls around, the compositions of the teams will have been altered.

the Yankees will have an altered pitching staff by the end of July

as will the Dodgers.

I did nto comment in game time, but I was super impressed and happy to see Cruz give up the hit and run, but come back to get a huge K on machado to end it!!

after game, Boone said Cruz never gave in. with that statement, I TOTALLY disagree!! one or both Wells and Cruz decided to give in and throw a 3-1 fastball to Tatis. that was a mistake. throw the freaking splitter. if he lets it go and it drops below the zone and he walks, FINE

then you go after Araaez

after seeing the 7th, is anyone thinking that perhaps some of our hitters can take a different approach to more ABs? the one AB that stands out is the second AB of the inning (Volpe). he seemed to very clearly be focused on hitting the ball to RF and consequently smoked a ball right up the middle vs a very good pitcher.

I did not see any real noticeable change from any other hitter, but I am hoping in a HUGE way that this inning throws some gas on the fire for Wells and Belli. super nice ABs lefty on lefty

you make an excellent point concerning Bellinger's low OBP

he might have been brought in to hit for power, but with Grisham and Wells hitting home runs, Bellinger must intelligently be tasked with getting to first base and providing a bit of a base-stealing threat in Chisholm's absence.

I feel bad for Wandy (not so bad that I wish he'd shut the Yankees down, of course). He had a 2.82 ERA with the Yanks across 3 years. He was like the anti-Whitson; he can only pitch for New York!

I'd still like to know how much they might get from insurance on Cole (and how insurance payments affect CBT amounts).
