The Yankees scored 4 total runs this weekend. The Red Sox scored 8. The Yankees won 0 games. The Red Sox swept. This top-of-the-league offense just didn't show up. (Yanks lose 2-0.)

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.
Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."

OMG!!!! In the Game Threads I love making "Debbie Downer" statements. They are fun and sometimes spark some good debate. But let me type a few things:
1) Cases can be made using the stats I adored as a kid when collecting baseball cards. Cases can be made using more modern -- and I firmly believe -- more accurate stats. But debates are fun!
2) I remember -- and I'm sure plenty of you do as well -- lots of criticisms of Jeter -- when he had IT and when he didn't. Not trying to be snide, but I really need a better definition of IT before I could really weigh in on that one.
3) I'm not going to…
Wells is hitting .224 with .288 on base percentage. Bellinger has been inconsistent. Goldy has been great against lefties, not much against righties. Dominguez and Volpe hitting around .240. No real great #2 offensive player. It is puzzling how they can get 10 runs in one game and 5 hits the next. Boston pitching is their weak spot, yet the Yanks couldnt figure them out. Dont know what the answer is.
Three blunders on the basepaths one in each game resulting in 3 losses and a sweep by the Sox. This is a weekend I would like to forget.
I know that there was a line of thinking that said that the Yankees were so good that there wouldn't be a "swoon."
Well, over their last 15 games, the Yankees are 7-8.
They have lost 3 of their last 5 series.
Is this cause for concern? Maybe.
The reason this is something that is concerning for many is not that the Yankees are in a slight down period. One can say, "it's only 15 games" and they are correct.
The concern is that this has happened at just about this point in the season each of the last three seasons. In that regard, it's not a small sample size, it's a very real pattern.
