The Yanks lost again.
A week or so ago, I said, "The Yankees squandered that great start." I was told I was wrong. I'm not.
A lot was made about how well the Yankees did against the Astros when the season started, but since then we've seen that the Astros... aren't good.
May 2 is now in the books and Aaron Judge is batting .197. If that's not a troubling sign, if that's not concerning, I don't know what is.
Judge had one hit in the series. One. "He's Back!" so many said. No, he's not. Not at all. A guy who is back, doesn't go for 1 for 4 games. Now 1-for-4 at bats... He went 1-for four games. So many said, "If he's not hitting by May..." Well, it's May and the big guy ain't hiting.
The Yankees scored 6 runs over the 4 games in Baltimore. No, that's not scoring. They had two big games in Milwaukee. Before that they weren't scoring.
The Yankees are 20-13 overall. Nice. But, since starting the season 10-2, they are 10-11. 2024 looks to be a microcasm of 2022, except that in 2022, the Yankees were great for a few months, not a few weeks.
Now that it's May, we can no longer say "small sample size". Now, what we've had is the full appetizer. But seriously, what has to happen now is they have to diagnose what is going on with Judge. You can't fix the problem unless you diagnose it first. They have to examine the toe ligament. Is it still sore? Does it still feel sore or hurt when Judge pivots on it, when he unleashes his swing? If the answer is "yes", then they have to put him on the Injured List for 10 days so he can rest the toe, with orders not to put too much weight or pressure on it when he is not playing. Reactivate …

you're still wrong and it's still not squandered. they're a full game behind Baltimore
take a look at their schedule for May
let's see where they stand after the next three series
and then at the end of the month.
let's see if they squander all the way down to ,500
Paul just imagine what the Yanks record would be without Soto I have said it when they made Volpe the lead off hitter that he is not ready Believe it is still to early but they simply don’t hit good pitching and refuse to play small ball All that being said it is very early and hopefully Judge and others get going or it’s again be another long year
