Quick Hit: SUNK

June 26, 2024

***

Mets 12

Yankees 2

The Yankees have now:

  • Lost the series to the Dodgers

  • Took 3 of 4 from the Royals

  • Lost the series to the Red Sox

  • Lost the series to the Orioles

  • Lost the series to the Braves

  • Lost the series to the Mets.

Worse, look at these scores of some recent games:

  • June 20: 17-5

  • June 21: 8-1

  • June 25: 9-7

  • June 26: 12-2

Since June 13, the Yankees are 3-9. They have played badly. They look bad. There are no prospects who can come to the bigs to help.

It's bad. Real bad. It looks bleak, because it is bleak.

If you believe the Yankees can or will turn it around, please explain how.

at the very least, I think most of us here would say that is not a bad idea))!!

since it is pretty dead here, how about this for something to start a conversation-

lets say that all of us here at SSTN could pool our money and buy the Yankees and we do what you say and fire Cashman and Boone

FWIW I am all in on getting rid of Boone immediately unless we can do it sooner. I might have a temptation to see what Cashman could do with a different owner setting up the working parameters for him, but you know if the rest of you, my fellow owners, strongly want to go another direction, I would n…

This is not a slump. It is simply a very poorly constructed roster, bullpen, rotation. You name it. This team is a mess. They can only beat AAA teams, maybe.

well Paul, I wish i could say that i am positive that I have an answer for HOW they will get better!! I DO NOT, but i do still believe they can.

I guess here is my counter to your Perspectives article from Weds. morning

first, all teams go through slumps. It stinks that we are slumping at the same time as the Os instead of growing our lead while they slump. but EVERYONE believes the Os are good and they are DEFINITELY slumping.

the Dodgers and the Braves have also gone through stretches like the one we are in now. slumps DO happen

second, we probably will not face a LHP starter in 70% of our games going forward,…

well we get to face a RH starter tonight. lets see how that looks, for one thing. I think the constant parade of LH starting pitchers from the opposition has Verdugo slumping badly the last 10 days. can he get back on track the first day we see a RHP? i cannot say, but I DO believe he is better than he has been the last 10 games. he IS slumping

the starting rotation may not be the best in MLB, but they are better than they have been for the last 10 games.

would i like it if we go big? SURE!! lets get Luis Robert, or one righty and one lefty bat? maybe Alonso and Bellinger (Cubs a…

As I said in the Game thread, the players on this roster are going to have to play their way out of this malaise, and some of the fringe players will be bounced around on the SWB Shuttle, or cut altogether. 95% of what I said that needed to change at the end of last season didn't even touch the roster, but NOTHING was done. Do I think these new hitting coaches have really been allowed to help change how these guys approach their ABs? No I don't. But I always had my doubts when Dillon Lawson's personal pick to be his AHC is still here. To me, that was Cashman's way of the new coaches not going t…

I have no words to say anymore. One thing for sure the ship is sinking fast and it's only going to get worse.
