The game was tied 0-0 going into the bottom of the eighth.

The Yankees managed only one hit through those eight innings.

The Rangers, on the other hand, had many base runners, but had failed miserably all game long with runners on base. That is, until the Yankees brought in Devin Williams who gave up a double (off Jason Dominguez's glove), walked a batter, walked another batter, and then gave up a two-run single. How Williams was permitted to stay in the game that long is a mystery. It was clear after the first walk that he needed to come out of the game, but Aaron Boone seemed not to know what to do. He looked completely lost in the dugout.

The Yankees went down quietly in the ninth.

The Yankees have now lost five games in a row.

The Yankees are 25-34 since May 30.

The team has gone 7-11 since the All-Star Break.

The team had a losing record in June.

The team had a losing record in July.

The team is 0-5 in August.

Did they hit rock bottom?

Is Brian Cashman going to make a statement?

Is Hal Steinbrenner?

Is the Yankees management okay with this? Does their silence speak volumes? What is the justification for sticking with the manager who has shown no ability to understand how to get his team out of this funk?

Full recap in the morning.

Raise your hand if you said they should be sellers at the deadline because they were so overly flawed. Wish I had been wrong. But I will admit that fine 2022 I have been of the mind that I will be happy with any result that ends Boones tenure as manager. Maybe this is what it takes

i do not agree that he failed. mcmahon has been an excellent defensive 3b and his offense has been decent- much better than Peraza. the platoon bats were also a wise move and Rosario has been fantastic

the relievers are far more talented than most of what we had. all of them had a bad day on the first day (Doval very likely would have been fine without the error). is it possible they were a little off their game after traveling accross the country in less than a day and trying to decide how their family would be impacted?

bird was dominant in his second outing and started that way vs TX. a FB in the zone was …

if this, despite being a pretty well-played game, is not the bottom

then there may be none

the Yankees made the first mistake

and it was but one of too many

sometimes pitchers pitch well

and in a manner that the ump finds agreeable

I dont find offensive a game that lacks offense

i dont believe that no runs scored until the end is indicative of a lack of effort

nor do I find game devoid of suspense.

Warren pitched not nearly as well as Eovaldi. Warren repeatedly allowed runners to reach second base

and yet Warren pitched well enough

to keep Texas from doing any barking

Here is an attempt to answer the questions:

Nope. Not until they miss the playoffs then wonder what hit them. In Hal’s wallet.

Even if he does, he wont say anything.

No way. He could care less. If he does it will be an insincere self serving deflection.

Apparently they are.

Yep. It says they ARE Ok with this disgrace.

It’s a lot more convenient this way. Besides, see the previous two answers.

Thank goodness they're bringing back the Old Timers' Game. We know we won't have to wait past Saturday for a Yankee team to win a game.
