If anyone knew how many times I had to change this post...

"They lose."

"They win!"

"They lose."

"They win!!!"

"They lose."

"THEY WIN!!!!!!"

****

The Yankees were losing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the eighth.

Trent Grisham homered to tie it. 1-1.

Three singles gave the Yankees the lead 2-1.

Devin Williams blew the lead by giving up a homer. Rays up 3-2.

Anthony Volpe homered in the bottom of the 9th to tie it. 3-3.

The Rays took the lead in the top of the 10th. 4-3.

Cody Bellinger tied it with a triple. 4-4.

The game went to the 11th.

And the Yankees won!!!!

Paul, we've seen cases of the yips before, and it's always sad. The worst part is, as soon as people start talking about it, it exponentially gets worse. I have no clue how to fix it.

Very, very exciting game. But let's not delude ourselves that this is a championship-quality team. They eeked past a .500 team. There was no clutch hitting in the first 7 innings, putting enormous pressure on the pitching. There were more of the all-too-frequent physical and mental errors. There were failures by the two star relievers. This will not fly against the Jays, Tigers, Dodgers or Mets.

what is the loss in trading for proven controllable players.

do you expect them to try to be good in 2026? if you look at the returning roster, what do they need for 2026? relievers

with Duran and Helsley and Clase gone, I would do WHATEVER is needed to add Mason Miller. go and watch highlights of Duran or Miller and notice how different they look than what we have seen for the Yankees for a long time

we need a guy who tells the other team the game is OVER when he comes into the game

even if this year does not turn around, we need it for next year and Miller is that for FOUR more years

I…

i give credit to the NYM for going out and adding 3 relievers, but I do believe there are much better quality relievers available and it will be a bummer if we do not add a couple

AND, here is an added bonus. so far the top relievers have been traded to the NL. if we take the best remaining targets that means it becomes very possible that Toronto and Detroit are unable to add a big impact arm to their pen

that should be very reasonable additional motivation!! Bednar is controlled for another year! Miller is controlled for FOUR more years. seriously do you want those guys in Toronto?
