The Yankees could tweak the bullpen, but when both Rodon & Schmidt are healthy, aren't they already tweaking it again?
Is what Wells has done since the ASB show he is finally healthy or is it because he had 4 days off?
With Spencer Jones back up here, there really isn't an real outfielder on the 40. At least Dominguez hitting .267 with a .460 SLG. lessens the need for the OF needing to be a RHB. Biggest problem with Jones is that he will be playing out of position in LF. Just like Dominguez, he has looked adequate in RF, and they refuse to move Grisham out of CF.

If we're looking at those possibly available (so not Ohtani) I'd be really interested in Bo Bichette. His contract might take some untangling, but he could meet multiple needs: 1. He could fake it at shortstop the rest of the season, moving Jose Caballero back to the utility role, and Anthony Volpe likely to AAA. 2. His .303/.340/.451 since June would look real good in the Yankee lineup right now. 3. It's a limited sample, but he has a lifetime .311 postseason batting average over four series. While he doesn't have a ring, he's been on winning teams as opposed to many trade deadline acquisitions. If he waives his no-trade and the Mets are willing, the Yanks may not have to give…
Wit Cole and Fried both looking like aces -- which spells serious trouble for most teams in the Yankees way, throw in Schlittler and tweak the bullpen with a deadline trade or two and the Yankees will be looking very tough in the second half.
Lengthen the lineup, a touch, and suddenly you've got a serious World Series contender.
As of Friday, I would have answered this question with one name -- Shea Langeliers. However, the injury gods have nixed my hoped for Deadline as he's out for the season now. The Yankees still need a bat and they really should prioritize a catcher. Ryan Jeffers is still the #1 target in my mind. Third base is also a disaster and so Cashman has to fix that hot mess as well. I'm afraid trading for just one player wouldn't provide a clear solution to what ails the Yankees. They need more cowbells. Lots more.
