If it's a baseball memory, then 1977 WS Game 6 -- Reggie's three home runs clinch the series. Chambliss's walk-off in 1976 ALCS Game 5 would be a close second.
For non-baseball memories, it's watching each other argue, me in the moot court finals in law school and my first argument in the Appellate Division (1st Dep't), and him in the U.S. Supreme Court (Dad won 9-0).
my favorite Father's Day memory does not involve my father, but my son.
once as the day approached, he asked me what I desired as my Father's Day gift.
I was not prepared for the question, and answered from my heart.
he( as well as his mother) was somewhat surprised and it required a fair bit of time before delivery.
Many great memories...and more to come.
But Game 6 WS 1996 ranks up there.
And playing at Field of Dreams, of course.
I have 4 baseball things with my father (2 surronding My Captain's death, 2 about Jackie Robinson), but the one that stands out the most is something that never was.
As I've said here numerous times, I'm an old catcher (part time 2B or RF -i could throw, catch a fly ball? yeah good luck to me!). My father pitched one of his JSSL DH games. I went with him, and eventually even was acknowledged by the Umps as the PC, even at age 9 - doing my best Art Fowler immitation. I used to warm him up, but one thing I never got to do was catch him in a real game. Well, the summer I was 1…
