Let's have a change of pace today...
Some readers have baseball card collections. Some can only remember the cards they had as a kid. If you think about the cards you had, or have, which was (or is) your favorite?
(Note - This does not have to be the most valuable card you own or owned, and the responses will probably be more fun if this isn't just a list of especially valuable baseball cards.)














Well, they are valuable. But my favorites are the 1953 Bowman Mickey. What a generally gorgeous set! It is a great picture of a very young Mick swinging the bat. The colors are amazing.
The other is the 1923 Niielsons Chocolates Babe Ruth. It’s a fairly obscure set but features the same picture as the iconic 1922 American Carmel “holding ball” card.
One time I was at a card shop and found a 1933 Goudey Tony Lazzeri in a $1 bargain box. It's a bit beaten up, but the picture and writing on the back are clearly visible - a great card! That would have to be my favorite, and it keeps me looking in the bargain boxes.
My favorite is the Hank Bauer 1953 Bowman.

I realize it's heresy to say this on a Yankees site, but I started collecting baseball cards in 1970. Apparently, the previous year, something unusual had happened in New York's baseball community, and it wasn't about the Yankees.
It was card No. 1 in the set and had all kinds of useful records information on the back. (No, Virginia, we did not have baseballreference.com 56 years ago.)
