Let's have a change of pace today...

Some readers have baseball card collections. Some can only remember the cards they had as a kid. If you think about the cards you had, or have, which was (or is) your favorite?

(Note - This does not have to be the most valuable card you own or owned, and the responses will probably be more fun if this isn't just a list of especially valuable baseball cards.)

Well, they are valuable. But my favorites are the 1953 Bowman Mickey. What a generally gorgeous set! It is a great picture of a very young Mick swinging the bat. The colors are amazing.

The other is the 1923 Niielsons Chocolates Babe Ruth. It’s a fairly obscure set but features the same picture as the iconic 1922 American Carmel “holding ball” card.

One time I was at a card shop and found a 1933 Goudey Tony Lazzeri in a $1 bargain box. It's a bit beaten up, but the picture and writing on the back are clearly visible - a great card! That would have to be my favorite, and it keeps me looking in the bargain boxes.

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
