Season Statistics: 3/4th of the Way
The Yankees recently completed the 3/4 point of the season. It was definitely their worst 20 game stretch of the year so far. Their offense has been in a funk and the days they scored runs , their pitching managed to blow the game.
However, the baseball season is a long one. Generally over a 6 month season, attrition eliminates several teams from contention. Usually the cream rises to the top. This year, in the National League, the Dodgers, Mets , and Braves have proven to be its best. In the American League, it’s the Astros and Yankees.
I am a very optimistic person. I see the good in most situations. I still believe that once Stanton, Carpenter, and Severino are healthy they will once again be a force. And Montas surely can’t be as bad as his first two starts, right? So a winning streak is going to start soon.
I try to avoid negative and cynical echo chambers like Twitter, Facebook and talk radio where everyone wants their voice heard after every game. The sky is falling, fire everyone, DFA players, etc.
Again, it’s a long season where there’s going to be ups and downs. Take a look at the standings. They still have a sizable lead. That’s the benefit of having such a hot start Enjoy the season, it may still be magical.
Now on to the home stretch….
