January/February 2026

***

Beginning today, we are going to scale back our coverage of the Yankees for a few weeks.

Each day we will provide a morning article, but, until just about Spring Training, that's all we are going to promise.

On some days, there might be more than one article, but, for a few weeks, we will only promise the one article to begin the day.

If breaking news happens, we'll get it covered. (Of course.)

In short, we are going take, for the first time since we started in October 2017, a little break (while still giving our readers a daily article to read, ponder, and respectfully discuss).

Of note, our streak of providing at least three articles a day every day lasted for about 3,000 days. We bettered Gehrig's 2,130...

How dare you interfere with my flow of free content!

Seriously, though, take care of yourself. I think the biggest threat to regular bloggers is burnout. Please do whatever is needed to avoid that result.

to everything there is a season

and this is not the season of baseball games

now, there is little light and little heat

little more than speculation and news about the business of baseball

fans are not businessmen

and it's the exact right time to relax and refresh

rest a little for a little while and get ready for whatever is next.

I don't like it but I completely understand. I'm not sure the reason for the change but if you are as frustrated at the Yankees brass as I am it's probably a healthy change. I have scaled my Yankees interest tremendously myself. I think it is disgusting how they disregard the largest world wide fan base that allows them the life they have. I continue to follow and wait patiently until sprig. Thanks for your work.

Also do you know why my “like” button doesn’t work? I can hit reply but the like heart I can’t click.

OK. But why not throw out just more Reader threads, and let us, the commentators/readers essentially make the posts?

I actually have made this suggestion a couple of other times, just to take the pressure off the writers. Just a thought.

Start Spreading the News is the place for some of the very best analysis and insight focusing primarily on the New York Yankees.

(Please note that we are not affiliated with the Yankees and that the news, perspectives, and ideas are entirely our own.)

Scattering the Ashes.jpeg

"Scattering The Ashes has all the feels. Paul Russell Semendinger's debut novel taps into every emotion. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll reexamine those relationships that give your life meaning." — Don Burke, writer at The New York Post

The Least Among Them.png

"This charming and meticulously researched book will remind you of baseball’s power to change and enrich lives far beyond the diamond."

—Jonathan Eig, New York Times best-selling author of Luckiest Man, Opening Day, and Ali: A Life

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
