Luis Gil, looking to compete to take Cole's spot in the rotation, goes only 3.1 IP, and 56 pitches. Last outing, 3.2 IP, 49 pitches. Way to build up the innings or the pitch count!

I like your argument, except for the fact that they've treated every pitcher the same way all Spring. Tell me, who really is ready, or even on track to be ready to even pitch 5 innings in their first regular season start?

It seems clear that Trevino/Wells are going to be the catchers this season making the team. So, the question is will the Yanks find a trade partner for Rortvedt or will he wind up just being DFA’d? Not sure there any other teams with an opening for a backup catcher at this point. I lean towards him just being DFA’d to clear a spot on the 40 man, since he’s out of options.

it's a good argument for quickly recognizing players' abilities and learning how to wisely assess the abilities of those players that you already employ and also those pplayers that you wish to acquire in trade

as well as to cultivate a willingness to pay the young players something approaching market rates.
