There's only room for four bench players on the Yankees roster and both Trent Grisham and DJ LeMahieu (if healthy by opening day) are probably getting two of those spots. It's still way early but it's looking like Oswald Peraza came to camp hoping to earn a roster spot and with the s strong Spring, he might be able to secure one. Is he a starting third baseman on a World Series team? I doubt that very much.

With Stanton shelved yet again though, there's an opportunity for a bat to step in. Given that Perira has 4 K's in only 9 At-Bats thus far this spring, we can probably surmiise he's still a hot miss - that said, he…

Why would you have a platoon of Smith and Rice? Both are lefties.

To imagine Boone as a tactician will lead to much consternation among Yankee fans! This season could get ugly..... injuries will once again limit this team's potential!

You're 13 days early soothsayer. It's not time for the Beware the Ides of March statements just yet -- but we're not far off.

A more substantive response: I don't like Rice as a DH unless there's another catcher on the roster, and I doubt there's room for one. One answer might be to have Judge DH a lot, with a Pereira/Grisham platoon in center, with Bellinger moving over to right (or if he doesn't have the arm for right, then putting P/G there).

All you need is Wells to have to leave the game and then you lose your DH.

Not LeMahieu. He hurt his calf during his second PA of the spring. It is the most shocking development since Captain Renault discovered that there was gambling at Rick's.

I called it - the injury. Again, at what point do the Yankees beat reporters start doing an in-depth investigative piece on the Yankees medical staff - all of it from diagnostician, to rehab plans, to the trust the players have of those jokers, to how they determine when someone is healthy, etc?

First, I do believe as of right now, Everson Pereira gets Stanton's roster spot come Opening Day. It is also my belief that Ben Rice gets the backup C/1B role. I do believe that these two will get the majority of the ABs that would've gone to Stanton at least to start. Who will actually be the DH? Pick a guy a day. Judge, Dominguez, Wells, Rice, Pereira, Goldschmidt.
