2007 MVP Season
Two seasons after earning the 2005 MVP, during the 2007 season, Rodriguez once again lead all of baseball in runs (143), home runs (54), RBIs (156), slugging (.645), and OPS (1.067) while posting an impressive .314 average.
The 2007 MVP was Rodriguez’s third of his career. He started the season off with 14 homers in his first 18 games.
He was the first player since Roger Maris in 1961 to lead the majors in RBIs, home runs, and runs.
In 2007, A-Rod became the ninth player to win the MVP three or more times (Barry Bonds-7, Yogi Berra-3, Roy Campanella-3, Joe DiMaggio-3, Jimmie Foxx-3, Mickey Mantle-3, Stan Musial-3, and Mike Schmidt-3). He received all of the first-place votes on the ballet, except for two.
Rodriguez still sought his first world series ring as he later said,
“I would trade all three for one championship ring. I wouldn’t think twice about it”.
