2005 MVP Run
Alex Rodriguez dominated baseball during the 2005 season leading all of baseball in games played (162), runs (124), home runs (48), slugging (.610), and OPS (1.031) while hitting .321.
At season’s end, Rodriguez finished first place on 16 out of 28 ballots, beating David Ortiz in the race.
In just his second season in pinstripes, Alex Rodriguez lead the Yankees to an American League East title. He became the fourth player to win the award with two teams. After winning the award, Rodriguez said,
“Winning an MVP is a great thing. I’m here to do one thing. Win one championship and then go from there”.
Rodriguez always sought after a ring and didn’t care as much about personal accolades. That’s exactly what a competitive player strives for.
