Patrick - with the exception of 3 truly bad starts, I agree with you. Warren has been an effective starting pitcher during the first 4 months of 2025. I see upside potential to become perhaps as high as a #3 starter on an above .500 MLB team. He's not an Ace, but you don't have squint that hard to see a controllable, young, solid mid-rotation contributor. A high quality #5 starter for certain. That said, if I could talk San Diego into parting with Dylan Cease (even with what's left of his expiring contract) for him RIGHT NOW - I'd make the deal. In 2026 you should still be able to roll out Fried/Rodon/Cole/Gil/Schlittler with Clarke Schmidt perhaps able to…

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Clase has been put on paid leave while MLB investigates a gambling issue. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45843304/sources-guardians-emmanuel-clase-leave-gambling-probe

I'm completely stunned that MLB's wholesome marketing of gambling sites has somehow created problems with players and umpires being involved with gambling. Who could ever have foreseen this outcome???

I'm surprised it's not more players. But what's going on that it's 2 pitchers from CLE?

why trade Grisham?

he's not making a lot of money, and he's more than earning the money they're paying him.

perhaps, due to his excellent performance/salary ratio, he has enough value to interest another team

even the one across town

but wont his expiring contract but a sizable crimp in any likely return?

is Judge going to be kept out of right field?

if so, isn't Spencer Jones going to slot in as the rookie in right, and not as a centerfielder?

prudence dictates the retention of Bellinger and Grisham, especially while awaiting the defensive maturation of Dominguez and Jones.

you have the understanding that it's gotta be Rice to go

Fuster - the rationale for trading Trent Grisham WAS (and yes, that's past tense, due to the timing of Judge's injury):

1. He is unsigned for 2026 - running out the final year of his contract in 2025 and it's highly unlikely he will be resigned. You might as well get a couple of prospects for him.

2. Grisham's contract is NOT "sizeable." He's incredibly CHEAP @ $5m in 2025 (and only about $1.5m left as of this writing); meaning any team that wants him could afford him;

3. Moving Grisham would've cleared necessary lineup space to allow Dominguez to play every day - now less of a priority with Judge on the shelf, perhaps for awhile; and

  1. Grisham is…

Thank you John. I'm not the only one who verbalizes my mistrust (see Paul, I can behave) of the Yankees Medical Announcements.

My under the radar Yankees player to be traded off this roster was always Ben Rice, not Will Warren, especially now without another real option sitting and waiting in AAA. But I do believe because of all the other SP prospects coming, combined with Cole coming back in 2026, I can see Warren being traded this off season.

You talk about trading for multiple relievers, but with all these pitching prospects they Yankees seem to collect, most of them being equipped with a 100 mph FB and one better than average off speed pitch, why not identify earlier…

Alan B: If I was the CIA Director and responsible for providing accurate intel to President Trump, I'd have to stamp every piece of information coming out of the Yankee management team as "LOW CONFIDENCE." You should never rely on the information to be accurate.
