If there is a God in Heaven, neither Rice nor Dominguez get optioned to AAA. I'd rather cut off a finger (or LeMahieu or Stanton) before doing that!

I agree. Both should be protected. Trading either would be a huge step backwards.

I'm still pushing for Alec Bohm @ 3b!

And with Bohm - also an accomplished 1b - I could easily see a 2 or 3 year run with Rice and Bohm as your platoon solution at the cool corner, for half the money being paid to Goldschmidt. Their splits suggest great potential here.

....and I still stand by my comment at that time that MLB pressured the Yankees to make that sort f deal. Yanks at the time only had 34 or 35 guys on the 40 man roster, and the Dodgers had already announced that they had signed Ohtani & Joe Kelly a couple of wees earlier but had yet to put them on the roster. Sweeney wasn't on the Yankees 40, but both Vivas & Gonzalez were on the Dodgers 40.

As much as I don't like Cashman, and think he gets more wrong than right, I never saw that deal as a deal he would make on his own.

From Compton to the Bronx.jpg

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
