This week we asked our writers to respond to the following:

What have you most enjoyed about watching the Yankees thus far this season?

Here are their responses...

***

Paul Semendinger - The 2025 Yankees are playing a better "brand" of baseball. To date they are more fundamentally sound. The young players have brough a great new energy to the club that is no longer so old, so slow, and so one-dimensional. Things seem to all be falling into place making this a very enjoyable team to watch.

***

Derek McAdam - It’s been fun watching Aaron Judge get off to a hot start, which is usually something that never kicked in until around this time of the season in years past. But it’s also been great seeing other players step up and get off to nice starts. Paul Goldschmidt has been a fantastic pickup, but Trent Grisham and Ben Rice have also had some positive moments so far this season. Cody Bellinger is beginning to hit and DJ LeMahieu has had a nice few games since his return from injury. The offense may not always be red hot, but they seem to be a better overall team from top to bottom compared to last year. However, there is still some work that can be done.

***

Tim Kabel - So far, I have enjoyed watching Max Fried pitch. He is a tremendous pitcher and an amazing acquisition by Brian Cashman. I can’t wait to see him combined with Garrett Cole next season.

***

Cary Greene - I've enjoyed watching Max Fried pitch, I'm pretty stoked that the Yankees finally got a legitimate, ace level lefty starter and he's really fun to root for. Another thing I've enjoyed so far this season is that Ben Rice and Paul Goldshmidt have both been outperforming Juan Soto and quite frankly - I'd much prefer to root for and watch both of them over Juan Soto. Lastly, watching Aaron Judge do his thing as also been really fun. Can Judge continue his blistering start to the season?

***

Mike Whiteman - I've really enjoyed the balance of youth and experience in the 2025 Yankees. It feels like we haven't had this in a long time. When I see guys like Dominguez, Volpe, Rice, and Wells play, I see a cumulative level of energy I haven't seen in awhile. It has been a fun season!

I think there are too many fun things going on with this team. it is not possible for me to single out one thing as the most fun to watch. I will do my best to list a few

I have enjoyed watching Goldy a LOT

it is mildly odd to watch him play this well and also realize that there is very close to zero chance he will be with the team next year

I really enjoy watching JDom develop, and I enjoy it immensely watching him run the bases. I enjoy the overall improved baserunning very much

we used to have SO MANY guys that you were almost positive would get thrown out if they tried to score…

Enjoying a lot:

First place

Judge of course

Fried

Belli gaining steam

Goldy seems rejuvenated

Not so much:

Volpe, period

Too many strikeouts and LOBs (seems better than last year though)

Some questionable decisions by Boone

All in all, not half bad so far.

I'm enjoying Max Fried's success and that of Rice, Wells, and JDom. I thought we should have sold high on Grisham; maybe it's not too late?

Replying to

I dont think it is too late to sell on Grish. I am happy for him and I will enjoy watching him as long as he stays

but I was yelling it all offseason and have been basically all season.

I think it would be great to trade him now because it opens up ABs for both Rice and JDom. Periera plays good defense at all 3 spots and would be a more than acceptable 4th OF and save us over 4 million

but trading now also lets see what Rice and JDom do playing nearly every day and if we need to get something more at the deadline

the biggest problem is matching up with someone. a deadline selle…

I've liked being wrong about Cruz. But it appears that I may be right about Grisham. Grisham has hit about .222 over the last 3 weeks, and by playing him on an everyday basis, Ben Rice has found himself on the bench more often, and that has disrupted his rhythm, so now both Grisham & Rice are scuffling. Liked seeing Loaisiga back on the mound, and in the Pinstripes. The prospect that everyone seems to be talking about besides Andy and me is RHB C/3B Jesus Rodriguez, now officially 2nd in International League (AAA) hitting at .385. I want to see how many games this week he starts at 3B.

Have loved to see that they finally let Will Warren…

the pitchers have wise old heads

the hitters fresh young legs

shame that Cole is out

with Cole (and Gil) this is a team likely to go to the Series.

still might be

but w/o Gerrit, it's incumbent upon the GM to dig in and pull in

"A young man from Compton rises to the highest levels of baseball greatness.

Considered one of the classiest baseball players ever, this is Roy White's story, but it's also the story of a unique period in baseball history when the Yankees fell from grace and regained glory and the country dealt with societal changes in many ways."
