What will the 2021 Yankees’ win/loss record be?
After looking back at the past 15 years (not including 2020’s 60 game season), I think the Yankees will post their best regular season of 104-58. I really think this team has the capability of exceeding all expectations. If I looked at every MLB team’s starting nine, there is no lineup that I would rather have than this year’s 2021 roster. One through nine has the ability to keep pitchers on their toes and there are no freebies in this lineup.
What is your prediction for the 2021 Yankees?
The past few years, my preseason prediction has been for them to win the World Series. Clearly, my predictions have not been working out in our favor, so I am just going to say that they win the AL-East by a longshot. I really think the Yankees will take the East by 12 games or more.
The Yankees will trade this player during the season.
If I had to pick one player, I think the Yankees might trade this season, I could see them packaging together a group of young, starting pitchers (possibly Domingo German, Deivi Garcia, Clarke Schmidt, Mike King) and try to get some help in the bullpen. Out of the four guys I just named, I’m going to go out on a limb and say the Yankees trade Deivi Garcia.
The Yankees will acquire this player during the season.
It would be my dream for the Yankees to make a trade for Josh Hader. I think the Yankees have the prospects and young arms to make a great offer to the Brewers. Will this happen? Likely not.
Who will lead the team in hits?
I’m going to change this question to who has the most hits other than DJ LeMahieu. I think it’s obvious that LeMahieu leads the team in hits, so I want to pick another player. I’m going to say that Gio Urshela has a big year and is an All-Star in July.
Who will lead the team in home runs?
Giancarlo Stanton has been absolutely annihilating the baseball in Spring Training. I expect him to lead the Yankees in HRs and make a push for MVP. Please stay healthy for us this year, Stanton.
Which pitcher will win the most games?
Gerrit Cole undoubtedly. Like the hits question, I’m going to choose someone other than Cole. I am expecting a big year from Jameson Taillon and think he will come in second behind Cole in wins.
Will any Yankee win a major award (Rookie of the Year, MVP, Cy Young)?
Always too early to put exact predictions on major awards, especially at the beginning of the season. I’m going to say that the Yankees have 6 All-Stars this season: DJ LeMahieu, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Aroldis Chapman, Gio Urshela and Gary Sanchez. I think Cole has a really good shot to be in the top 3 of the AL Cy Young votes at the end of the season. Giancarlo Stanton is my dark-horse MVP.
