Well, I hope that wasn't the big move.
Maybe it's a move that allows the Yankees to move an outfielder or two...
Or maybe this means Mr. Judge isn't as healthy as reported...
But, Austin Slater?
Lifetime OPS+ of 102 (since 2017).
He's now on his fifth team over the last two seasons...
Austin Slater is a Yankee.

Duran to the Phillies. Two top 100 prospects back
None of this impresses me. They have Grisham, Goldy, Peraza, Pereira, Rumsfeld, Escara and a slew of minor league pitchers. Why cant they make a deal for a difference maker?
This is all about platoon splits.
When I was growing up in the 60's and 70's many teams, including Yankee teams, built their rosters around deriving platoon advantages (absent all the modern-day analytics, but simply because it helped you win ballgames) as frequently as possible. This was much easier to do when your roster was 10 pitchers and 15 position players which was the norm in MLB for about 9 decades before the specialized roles in bullpens swallowed the game whole.
The Baltimore Orioles under Earl Weaver loved the platoon. In 1982, for example, pairing LH John Lowenstein (3.6 WAR - 188 OPS+ v. RHP) and RH Gary Roenicke (5.2 WAR - 164 OPS+ v. LHP) to create the best…
when do the Angels cast down Kenley
and where the heck does he end up?
Paul, think of it this way: Austin Slater for Peraza. With all the pitching prospects they currently have and added with the draft, Ziehl, just at Single A isn't much to give up. It is my opinion his prospect ranking was based more on his potential than his ability, do again, not concerned.
Plus, you want a real OF to play the OF here you go. 😁
The only thing that bothers me is then what are Pereira and De La Cruz doing in AAA and on the 40 man roster?
