I was not trying to make any point.

is it your belief that all of these pitchers should be in monument park? clearly, Shawkey had the highest WAR. therefore, it makes sense he would be one of, if not the most likely, the top possibilities.

I would have to go and look at the career of all of the players. I DID look at Shawkey before I posted. the stats seem to show a good but not really a great pitcher. I was aware of Shawkey but I absolutely do NOT know his whole story

to me for a player to be included, they need either a worthy career, or a noteworthy singular event or two.

Maris won 2 MVPs…

I will have one more article on Monument Park tomorrow.

All week, through a variety of articles, I have shown that deserving players for Monument Park are not there.

If the Yankees portend to have a place where their great players are recognized, they need to include the other worthy players.

It is unfair to these players' legacies, and Yankees history in general, to exclude worthy players from Monument Park.

We just saw a vast majority of the baseball community, experts, fans, and such, all say Tommy John should be in the Hall of Fame. He will get there, but he won't be alive to see it - and that is a shame.

The Yankees can make sure that that…

I am aware of most of the names, yet some of the names I had not even heard until now. that is my way of saying, there would be a lot for me to learn for plenty of the pitchers listed here, but from what I do know and based on the WAR, I do not see any real glaring omissions.

personally, I am a BIG fan of Mussina and Righetti! if they were in, I would not say it is wrong, but I do not think either one is what could be called an obvious mistake for not being included

You're actually making my point.

If you bring a fan into Monument Park and say, "Walk around and when you're done, tell me who was better, C.C. Sabathia or Bob Shawkey."

The fan will leave Monument Park and say, "C.C.!" (Once CC is there in Sept...)

Except, Shawkey was a Yankee for more years, won more games, had more WAR, and a better ERA+. Shawkey pitched the Opening Game in Yankee Stadium in 1923.

Shawkey won 20 games for the Yankees four times. He helped pitch the Yankees to the World Series in 1921, 1922, and 1923.

I could go on...

BUT, fans have not heard of him because the Yankees have failed to tell the complete story of their…
