About Last Night: Yankees 10, Royals 2

The Yankees started their road trip off right in Kansas City last night. A massive homer by Judge in the first inning was only the beginning as the Bronx Bombers used some big hits, well-placed bloops, and another stellar performance from Max Fried to take a 10-2 victory over the Royals. The Royals' young phenom, Noah Cameron, had only given up two homers in his first five appearances and boasted an ERA under 1.00; however, Aaron Judge greeted him with a monster two-run shot in the first inning, and Austin Wells broke the game open with a three-run bomb in the fourth.
Quick Stats -
Max Fried - The southpaw went seven strong innings for the Yankees, giving up two earned runs on six hits, one homer, no walks and four Ks.
Noah Cameron - Over 5.2 innings, Cameron gave up six runs on seven hits, a walk, and six Ks.
Yankees Offense - They collected 16 hits over nine innings with every starter picking up at least one hit.
Player(s) of the Game -
Austin Wells had a great night at the plate, including a big three-run homer that gave the Yankees a comfortable lead that they wouldn't relinquish. He went 2-5, tying his career-high in RBIs with 5.
Notable Performances -
Jasson Dominguez went 3-5 with a run scored. He dunked a couple of hits into the same spot in right field and got robbed of a fourth hit by the Royals' first baseman.
DJ LeMahieu also had a great game, getting on base safely four times and making some nice defensive plays. He went 2-3 with a pair of walks and two runs scored.
Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe both went 2-5 on the night. Judge's first inning home run definitely set the tone for the Yankees as he obliterated the ball, sending it 469 feet at 118 mph.
Better to Forget -
I'd rather remember this game. More of these please!
My Take -
Facing a pitcher they haven't seen before and who had been phenomenal in his first five MLB appearances, it wouldn't have been a surprise to see the Yankees' offense struggle last night. Instead, they continued their hot hitting ways. It was the fourth game in a row where the Yankees scored at least 7 runs. Not only did they get huge hits from Judge and Wells, but everyone contributed to the offensive onslaught. So, while I'm sure Noah Cameron is disappointed with the outing, he faced a hot Yankees lineup and still had some key moments that show why the Royals are excited about the young hurler.
Whenever the Yankee offense is firing on all cylinders it is a good day, however, I think the defense deserves some credit for the win. First, Max Fried was efficient on the mound, throwing 91 pitches over seven innings. 61 of those were for strikes and he also induced 11 ground ball outs. DJ LeMahieu had a great play to end the first inning and barely missed a double-play during Kansas City's second inning rally. He also made a great diving catch in shallow right field in the eighth inning.
Overall, the Yankees looked strong from start to finish on Tuesday. Here's hoping this is the start of a nice little streak.
Next Up -
The Yankees continue their series against Kansas City tonight. Clarke Schmidt will make the start for the Yankees. He has gone 2-3 in nine starts with a 4.04 ERA and 50 Ks. The Royals will send Kris Bubic to the mound. He is 5-3 with a 1.43 ERA over twelve starts. He has 79 Ks in 75.1 innings. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 pm EST.

EDITOR'S NOTE - Today's graphic comes from Microsoft Co-Pilot. I gave the following prompt, "Please create a graphic, cartoon style, of a Yankees player leaning out of an airplane and giving a thumbs-up with a big smile."
The only downside was that De Los Santos couldn't finish the 9th, but.......
....Brubaker's rehab assignment time is almost up, so who loses their spot? Reportedly, Stroman starting his rehab today, in G1 of the DH in Somerset (AA) - Stupid timing wise, now Stroman will need to be on the active roster right before the ASB, but again, who loses his spot for him?
Stanton started his rehab assignment last night. Already, because of Grisham getting Aaron Judge-type of being in the lineup protection, either Ben Rice or Jasson Dominguez are already sitting every game, fair or not, does one of these guys have to go back down to get regular ABs?
In AAA, Beeter was handed the 9th…
Sorry, but even in a win It needs to be said, they better get a third basemen. Jazz has the heart to try, but its obvious he isnt a third basemen. You can't win it all with round hole, square peg strategies. It's perplexing that it has even gotten this far into season.
