Yankees Player of the Game
Trent Grisham came in to pinch-hit in the bottom of the eighth with the Yanks down two runs and tying the game by hitting his 10th home run of the season.
Better to Forget:
This does not happen very often, but Aaron Judge's error and 0-4 performance with three strikeouts earn him this honor in this game.
My Thoughts:
The Yankees snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with Trent Grisham’s clutch home run in the bottom of the eighth that tied the game and made the extra innings win possible.
Devin Williams finally getting out of an inning without giving up a run and looking more like his old self could be a good sign for the rest of the season.
The Yankees' showing of toughness and grit, never stopping to battle, even when having to come off the bench, shows just how much this team desires to win, no matter the circumstances.
Last night’s game was won by clutch hitting by two performers who did not even start the game, in Grisham and Escarra.
Max Fried continues to pitch like the ace he is, bringing his ERA to 1.05 for the season. It was tough not to give him the win with such a good performance, but that's just life in baseball. With the win, the Yanks keep their 2.5 game lead on the Red Sox in the division.
The Yankees are 8-0 in games Max Fried starts.
Next Up:
The Yankees have an off-day Thursday before taking on the Athletics in Sacramento Friday night. The Yanks will send Will Warren to the bump to take on Osvaldo Bido for the Athletics in a late-night matchup set for first pitch at 10:05 ET.
